Transition Music Video

MC Hammer - Can't Touch This

Including; Rory Haczewski, Will Drumee & Alex Summerhill

To create this video, we were each given a track of music for our AS transition music video. Before shooting, I got together with a group of my classmates. We decided what age this song would attract, also what sort of people it would attract too. Our overall descision was that it is a sub-urban type song, which the idea that it would be aimed towards teens/young adults who rebel and just have a good time. That's why we decided to base the video in a local park (Castle Gardens, Norwich) I got the idea that our theme was rebelling in a park, as if you see teens nowadays messing around in the parks. We choreographed most of the dancing parts, for example when Rory, Alex and Will are dancing on the bench or the wall, we decided to have them dancing a certain way, but on other parts with the whole group dancing (including me) were freestyle/improvised dance. We also used lip synching in the "can't touch this" line. We kept to the 80s/90s genre with the up-beat/happy dancing.

Whilst doing this I learnt a few new techniques and ideas, also also enabling me to improve on what I have already learnt since last year. I'd never tried lip synching before this project and although we didn't make use of much it was still a big help to try out for when we move onto our main music video project. I used a little animation in the video, with the little stick figures dancing on screen, I feel I could have used these alot stronger but since it was the first time in using animation in a video, I feel I will have more chance to develop this and improve to hopefully use animation in the future. We didn't have too much choreography but any choreographed or even free-style/imrpovised dance used, we kept in time with the music, we kept the bouncy, pop-like feel to the moves. If we had tried head-banging or slow dance it wouldn't have really worked with the genre of the song.
